Pastor John and Kelly Bechtel
Pastor John was born in Hackettstown, NJ. His childhood was spent in New Jersey, then Wyoming, then overseas in India, and finally returning to New Jersey. He graduated from Seton Hall University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 2008, he began full-time ministry as Director of Music at Adult and Teen Challenge of Mid-America, Cape Girardeau, MO.
Kelly grew up in Kenilworth, NJ. Beginning at age 16, she ministered in children’s church at Calvary Assembly in Union, NJ for 16 years, and also worked in special needs children’s education in the public school system.
John and Kelly had been friends since their teen years, but it wasn’t until 2014 that they fell in love and married. They have three sons, Johnny, Tyler, and Will, and one daughter, Sophie.
In 2018, John and Kelly were called by God into full-time children’s ministry. John served as Associate Pastor at Bethel Assembly in Cape Girardeau, MO for seven years. In December of 2025, God called them into their current season at Bunnvale Assembly. John assumes the position of Lead Pastor here in April 2026.
John and Kelly spend their time first with God, then working for family and the body of Christ. In times of rest and relaxation, they can be found playing Euro games, cheering on the Mets, or on a pickleball court!
